SWISSCI Converse ultrafiltration concentrators are designed to maximize protein recovery. According to company representatives, they also enable rapid buffer exchange and are well suited for particle-laden solutions. The reverse direction of flow combined with large membrane surface area enables rapid processing times. High concentration factors (up to 200x, if desired) can be achieved. Although Converse can be used in a centrifuge, specially designed pressure caps eliminate the need for centrifugal force. Users can view the device working, and since no electrical power is needed, mobile use is possible. The company say that pressure cap use also gives significantly faster processing times as well as enhanced sample recovery and concentration factor. The Converse S capacity is 8ml test solution and Converse L is 20ml in one loading. The concentrators are reusable and are available in molecular weight cut-offs 3 kDa,10 kDa, 30 kDa, and 100 kDa. Both polyethersulphone (PES) and regenerated cellulose (RC) materials are available. The advanced RC membranes are particularly suited to membrane protein applications.
